Team Glasgow started off their YDL season in brilliant style this past weekend, competing in the newly formed league in Sheffield.

Led by our four team captains; Andrew Costello and Emma Thompson for the Under 20 team along with Jamie Burns and Shona Crossan for the Under 17 team, Team Glasgow performed superbly for so early in the season.

Athletes representing Team Glasgow travelled down to Leeds for the second match of the season this year, feeling positive and confident after their outstanding team effort on the first match.

Glasgow City AC travelled to Bedford for the inaugural BAL "Big Saturday" match on 15th July. Spirits were high despite a few injury concerns and the squad were looking forward to the challenge of improving our league position. However, it proved to be another difficult day and although we had managed to assemble a larger squad for this match, we could only muster a 7th place finish. The result means in 7th place overall in the league but further adrift of safety in the relegation battle.

A small ragtag band of brave young men set off on an epic quests traversing mountains and rivers, through valleys and glens, negogiating many other obstacles along the way on the road to...Swansea. Ok it wasn't exactly as dramatic as Tolkien's tales of middle earth (though I'm sure I saw a few Ork-like creatures at breakfast in Birmingham) and the closest we got to bloodshed may have been when I was wielding the hammer but the journey was truly Mordor - sorry, that was a terrible pun but I couldn't resist. Nevertheless, the 14-man team put in an exceptional effort to cover all but 2 of the event slots and finish 6th at Match 2 of this year's Division I BAL Match. This result lifts Glasgow City off the bottom of the league table and back into a competitive position.

With the newly designed YDL this season; Team Glasgow travelled to Sheffield to compete in the 'playoff' match in the hope of gaining a place in the UK Final. Against five very strong teams; Team Edinburgh, Team Kingdom, Forth Valley, Leeds and City of York, the team knew it would be a tough competition with everyone looking to raise their game for this match.
